The Darbyshire Award began in 2007 and runs every June during the Site Festival held in Stroud and is organised by the Stroud Valley Artspace (SVA) organisation.

The award takes the form of an open submission from which a shorted listed exhibition is held at the Museum in the Park, Stroud. From this exhibition a winner is chosen to receive sponsorship from Darbyshire's to mount an exhibition at the SVA gallery.
