hanging
hanging

As a general rule work should be hung comfortably at eye level, with eye level falling approximately 1/3 of the way down from the top of the frame. Use both a spirit level and the human eye, which will compensate for any architectural irregularities.
Artwork should not be hung in direct sunlight. Nor should it be hung in humid conditions. Both high and low levels of humidity can cause damage to artwork and so walls showing signs of damp should be avoided.

Be aware of hanging artwork directly under spotlights as this can cause the work to get unduly hot. Likewise be careful of hanging artwork above radiators but if this is unavoidable a mantle will help to disperse the heat.
