For the last two years Olsen has been working on an ongoing series of constructed photographs rooted in the forest. These works, carried out in Surrey, Hampshire and Wales, involve site specific interventions in the landscape that manipulate space through the particular treatment of the trees in relation to the horizon.
Previous work has focused on architecture as a frame work, through the controlling and manipulation of 'natural' and projected light, our attention is brought to how we perceive space and form.
Born in Wales in 1976, Olsen graduated from Chelsea Art College in 1999 with BA Hons in Painting. Since then he has worked in tandem, as a practicing artist and a professional photographer, working for architects and other artists. His own own work fuses painting, architectonics, sculpture and installation within the form of photography.
