Darbyshire was asked by Alison Jacques Gallery to frame sixty black and white photographs, which were taken from 1975-1988 by Robert Mapplethorpe for an exhibition curated by David Hockney.
Using the latest computer controlled machinery Darbyshire fabricated one-piece frames and sprayed them soft white. Within the frames the photographs were window mounted with archival mounts. Hung on walls painted dark reds and greys, the result was a stunningly spare and crisp set of frames, which enhanced the graphic qualities of the images.
