Bettina Von Zwehl installation at the Freud Museum

‘Make a note of anything..’, is a new site-specific installation by Bettina von Zwehl, created during her artist residency at the Freud Museum in London over the past year. Bettina collaborated with pupils at Holy Trinity Primary School in Hampstead to realize the work, which was created specially for the Anna Freud Room.

Darbyshire advised Bettina on the presentation format of her installation, which involved having her small scale photos of over 100 children’s eyes laminated side by side with no spacing, on thin strips of aluminium (sponsored by Metro Pictures).  The photo-strips were then installed in the Anna Freud Room by Darbyshire technicians, in the formation of a frieze raised slightly away from the walls, running unbroken around the room. The eyes are punctuated by more abstracted images; sections of blurred green foliage; glimpses beyond the room and out into the garden.
